10/01/2020After a slightly dodgy start regarding our booking was resolved very quickly by the manager, the rest of the evening was a perfect end to our lovely stay in Bamburgh.... read more Attentive friendly service, delicious beautifully presented and fresh food all round, and cosy yet bright and airy atmosphere. Perfect for the current Covid times - very clean and tables all separated by divides which were apparently a recent covid addition but looked like they were an intended design feature, and definitely helped create a more cosy setting.
Would highly recommend. One of our party decided it would be worth another 5 hour journey just to come back to this restaurant. Thank you to everyone at the Apple for a lovely welcome and a great finale to our holiday.juliec167
8/14/2020Nice pub. Starters were ok - we had Scotch egg and Cheese soufflé, both of which were nice. Mains were ok - haloumi and watermelon salad. Service was good. Would... read more have given good score rather than average but other option is very good.

7/26/2020Chose here to eat as good reviews and near to wear we are staying .
Lovely old school conversion,
Very pleasant staff and we had a very nice... read more meal We timed it right before they. Got busier .
Only down side for us , that we were seated opposite the open kitchen and for an ex publican I found it a little frustrating to see meals not being taken to tables quick enough .
More staff seemed to appear as the evening went ion but it didn’t seem to help .
The kitchen seems to us to get stressed , wrong meal to the table next to us and the other side of us a table of four and one of them had to wait longer for her meal while the other three tucked in
they seemed to be happy but to me that is unacceptable.
We ordered desert as wanted to try the pancakes . We waited a long time and I could see different people making the various pancakes and the bar man doing pizzas .
To us they weren’t that busy but were struggling with not enough staff and kitchen a bit disorganised
Sorry I’m from this background , I nearly got up and took two meals out after the chef rang the bell
Three times
How do They cope in the high season as Luker is 90 % holiday accommodation .
But I will say that we did enjoy our meal it was very tasty and when we eventually got our pancakes they were delicious
Only here for a week so probably won’t get a chance to go again .Delyth A

3/01/2020Nice evening meal out from local HPB at Lucker. The main courses of pizza had plenty of tasty topping filling sadly mine was over cooked almost burnt on the edge,... read more hence only 4 star. Luckily the overall meal was redeemed by excellent crepes for puddings.
PS would recommend sharper knifes for the pizzasJezGateshead

2/15/2020In winter just open w/es and we went Sunday night. Eating out can be disappointing so often so we did not go with huge expectations but just delighted to find... read more a restaurant we could walk to from where we were staying down the road. The building and conversion is lovely with an open airy feel but with different eating areas so is also not at all Barn like. Interesting art work and windows. The food was far beyond our expectations. Several were eating pizzas but we went for the full monty of 3 courses. Pigeon breast / crab arancini , mussels and fries / sea bream on a cassoulet
and partner had, for dessert , crepe with raspberry and dark chocolate with a mango
sorbet while I contented myself with an Irish coffee. All were presented so as to entice you to want to eat them and we could see the chef cooking the crepes fresh for example which was interesting and always reassuring! Staff were friendly, very informative and very professional. We had a lovely bottle of Spanish red and for all paid less than we expect to pay for inferior food back home.
We had a super evening, thank you.Chris G

1/18/2020We came across The Apple Core following an internet search for somewhere to eat on our way back to Holy Island from Alnwick. So glad we found it!
The two... read more waitresses were both friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. We shared dough balls and antipasti as a starter, and then had the special Calzone and the goats cheese pizza (no problems with altering the toppings for me)
There was a mix of clientele - couples, families, adult groups.
We arrived at 6.30 and it got gradually busier throughout our meal. There were two waitresses only due to the busyness of The Apple Inn over the road, and this was explained and apologised for at each table which was a thoughtful action.
We were sorry we didn't have room for dessert, but the replacement hot chocolate was a tasty alternative!
The meal was really good value for money. We will come back again when we are in the area.l_r_kramm
1/03/2020A great find, tried this place as a new option for early dinner. The restaurant is very clean and well presented with a welcoming atmosphere . The drinks options are... read more limited. The food selections are Mediterranean and very well done we had pizzas, generously “topped” and not too much bread . The galette was filling and took some time to get through and the kids crepes were “lush”.

12/31/2019Booked for family dinner over Christmas holidays. Don 't be fooled; this punches well above its description on every aspect. Outstanding service, what a warm friendly genuine welcome! Menu is... read more extensive and food excellent. Interior design and decor of this former school really is unbelievable. How good? we have booked for dinner tomorrow at the Apple Inn opposite and I've included the Apple Core in my tour itineraries for 2020 . Thanks for wonderful experience .

11/26/2019I don’t normally leave reviews, tonight the family meal was spoiled by very poor service, the two chefs work really hard and when the food arrives at the pass they... read more have to call service several times before the staff who are all huddled round the bar area take any notice, the lasagne was not up to scratch, the sauce was poor and tasteless, out of four meals only one was eaten, we shall not be going there again, I had to ask several times for a knife and fork as I had used the original on my starter which was the best part of the meal, it’s a shame that the front of house let down the hardworking chefs.

11/23/2019The staff were both friendly and helpful but the food did not live up to expectation.

11/22/2019I don't like writing negative reviews, particularly when we live in the area and want to return. However this is the second time when we have had a disappointing meal;... read more the Staff are welcoming and friendly and we have got to know some customers but the food is 'hit and miss'. I chose from the specials menu as I don't want fried or battered food. The red mullet was over-cooked, dry and rubbery, and so salty that it was inedible. We were not charged for my returned meal. I picked at a second option, but didn't enjoy as I'd lost my appetite and my husband and friend had already finished their meals. Sadly we won't return.

10/30/2019We were staying at the nearby Lucker Hall HPB. This pretty well represents a captive audience for the Apple. The dining area conforms to modern taste by being stripped down... read more to basics. The unfortunate side effect in this case is that it has also been stripped of any character or atmosphere. I had a beef burger. Halfway through I regretted eating this. On the other hand my husband chose a steak and ale pie which he said was very nice. We also had two glasses of wine and the bill came to about £40 approximately. This is not bad and you could say we got we paid for. We did not think it worth a return visit.

9/27/2019Too be honest I was so disappointed with the food, service was good if not a wee bit slow. Attention to detail for the waiting staff could be better, such... read more as removing cutlery that has not been used, just don’t understand why you would keep that on a table and makes me question if that is left on the table for the next customers on that table. My main issue was with the menu itself, pizzas were fine but nothing more than that, they are missing a trick with this, very doughy and toppings sloppy. Galettes, I can figure out why having pizza on the menu would you served them in a similar vein, they were hard and very dry, and the pesto was very heavy handed and clearly had tarragon in it which did not fit the favour profile. Desserts very disappointing. Overall they have a good set up maybe time for a new head chef.
